“Stand By Your Man”, the TV-movie based on Tammy Wynette’s autobiography, aired May 13, 1981. Originally scheduled to air on March 31, the movie debut was postponed when that year’s Academy Award telecast was delayed by one night and moved into the film’s slot.
Annette O’Toole portrayed Tammy (shown above [top] with the real Tammy Wynette). Tim McIntire portrayed George Jones and James Hampton was cast as Tammy’s producer, Billy Sherrill (above, bottom photo).
